| | | What a beautiful moth After I took the dogs for a walk I was about to walk through our back door when I noticed this moth on the door glass. I had never seen one before but a quick search in UK moths ( http://ukmoths.org.uk/) soon had me looking at my first White Plume Moth - Pterophorus pentadactyla.
It looked a nice moth just looking at it but once I had taken photos of it it's true beauty emerged.
What do you folks think?
BTW I have noticed that Fourwings beat me to it in the Gallery as he has captured an excellent image of this moth.
This next image is looking at it from its underside.

| | | Re: What a beautiful moth one of my favourites these are. the caterpillars aren't ugly either. If you check any bindweed locally in May/June (i think) you might find them. I have uploaded a pic to the caterpillars Gallery that i took in early June. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ga...age-12948.html |

| | | Re: What a beautiful moth Glad you folks like the images. I suppose the danger is that because I had never seen one before that the beauty of what appears to be a common moth catches me out. Some of you guys have probably gotten used to seeing these moths most nights. I just hope that no matter how many times I see a thing of beauty that I don't take it for granted.
I certainly don't with birds as anytime I see birds like Yellowhammers and Kingfishers plus Chaffinches in breeding plumage I have to stop and admire them. I hope I never lose that.
