Re: your moth Dan, my mate Bernard always taught me to put on colourless glasses when looking at moths. That way you will look at the markings, not the colours and it works! It has been something I will always remember that's for sure.
Why do you have a problem with Square spot rustic?
I had an even larger Old lady in my trap last night! That's 2 in a week and never seen before!! Cool!
Naturegirl | it was actually the marking i was looking at and not the colours...my moth looks to have two white 'eyes' close to the body which matched nothing on first search....but the waring pictures show that its not eyes but kind of the edge of the banding.
i find huge variation and size/vividness of square spot rustic which probably rings bells im getting a lot wrong...im probably passing up on some uber rare jobbies and labelling them S.P Rustics...(yeah i wish).

Waring is drawings whereas Skinner is actually the real thing.
We all got a lot wrong in the early days and even now a few too. Just hang in there and it will get easier, promise!
Will you still run a trap after you do your Diss?
