Big Moth ID
On my window right now.

I'm thinking Red Underwing, but I've never seen one before so confirmation or other suggestions welcome.

I agree with red underwing and a very nice moth indeed!

If you could see the underside of the forewing which is not visible in your pic it would have black and white banding which they use as their 'flash' warning signal along with the red underwing.

They are stunning Moths aren't they. I have only had them in my garden on two occasions so not one I see that often.

I did manage to get a shot of one with its wings open and one when it was on its back. The second gives an indication of size for those that don't know how big they are. Each square is 2mm.
