| | | Hummingbird Hawkmoth Hummingbird Hawkmoth. I saw this amazing moth today, feeding on Fragrant Orchids. Shame the piccy is rubbish, but I can still feel the thrill and excitement to see him buzz from one flower to the other.
Kev
I have put another thread in the photo section to ask for advice on capturing a better piccy. Any advice given is gratfully received.

| | | Re: Hummingbird Hawkmoth I have been on Portland today, and seen at least a dozen Hummingbird Hawks, including a number of females laying eggs on Madder (Rubia peregrina). Also spotted 3 Clouded Yellows, and a fair number of Large Whites |

| | | Re: Hummingbird Hawkmoth Yo sticky that must have been an excellent sight to see.I've only ever seen one before & never was able to photograph it.So you did pretty well actually getting a photo, albeit a dodgy one, lol. It is unfortunaye that it's so out of focus coz this would've been a great photo. Then again i like any photo involving wildlife & orchids.Just a great combo.

John | I totally agree with you John. I went back today but only saw one in the distance and was not going to tramp a field of Orchids for one piccy. But I did see this- a Small Elephant Hawkmoth on a Fragrant Orchid.
