Request for micro moth ID

Hello All,

This little moth was upside down on my kitchen window ledge on a recent frosty morning and sadly didn't survive. I took these photos before it departed the mortal coil, but I have no idea which species it is. Any ideas?

Hi Steve

I think it's Mompha epilobiella. M. ochraceella is quite similar, but epilobiella hibernates, so that seems more likely given the date.

I agree, epilobiella is more likely. This species forms larval spinnings on Willowherb leaves and can be easily raised as as adult from these, but will also come to light BW Tristan

Yes I agree it is Mompha epilobiella

Thanks all for your comments. There certainly is a lot of Willowherb around where I live, so it seems a good suggestion.
