| | | Unidentified fly, moth or bug? Hi
I wonder if someone could identify and/or let me know how to eridicate some insects that we have at home. They are about 5 millimetres long and fly around failrly slowly (so slow that they are quite easily zapped in mid air). They don't seem to fly in groups just randomly and predominently in the kitchen landing on the worktops, cupboard doors or ceiling. They do not seem to congregate in any particular area. They are too small to photograph with my digital camera and fly killer doesn't seem to affect them.
We live in North Essex if that helps. Sorry I can't be more specific.
Thanks

We get these at home at as well....they are rather slow you can just swat them whilst they saunter over your computer screen!........But I keep African land Snails and I know the moist warm air and veg that they have attracts these little flies so there isn't much we can do about them! |

| | | Re: Unidentified fly/moth/bug?? Hi,
Are they also known as thunder flies ?, we get an awfull lot of them over the compost material bin, not the heap itself but where the waste veg is put first.
The very similar flies we find are under the fruit trees in summer, they seem to nip you too.
Max.

Not sure if it's the vinegar fly as suggested though. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
