| | 2 micro moths to ID please Hi again,
I had these two turn up in my trap last night. I've checked UK Moths, but can't make any headway with them. Any suggestions appreciated.
1. Possibly some kind of Acleris spp?
2. About 5mm long, dark/charcoal grey with tan flashes.
Thanks,
Steve. |

Don't know either of these I'm afraid. The tort is too worn for a definite ID. The second looks like a Gelechid from the huge palps - you might want to go through them on UKMoths and see what is flying at this time of year. I think dissection is probably the only way you'll get them identified for certain.

Thanks for the pointers. I've trawled through UK Moths and I'm fairly happy with the Gelechid being Aproaerema anthyllidella, although I've noted your comments about dissection being required so I've added a question mark to my records.
The first moth pictured wasn't actually worn - it was dark and shiny and has reflected the light from my camera, giving the appearance that it is worn. I'll have another look on UK Moths for dark Tort or similar.
Thnks again,
Steve. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
