| | | I won this on EBay Today I picked up the stereo microscope I "won" on Ebay. I'd been out earlier and brought home a rotting bit of wood to test it out. It's a whole other world! There was so much on that small peice of wood including some very tiny and strange looking creatures. I didn't catch any of the bugs but here's what I bought and my first shots. I don't know what any of it is by the way.
Chris told me a dissecting scope was important!

| | | Re: I won this on EBay Very nice Dave.
Trouble is, now that you've got it, you sound as though you're like me - seeing loads of stuff in fantastic detail - but no idea what you're actually looking at.
Still, it's a super way of passing inordinate amounts of time
Regards,
Mike. |

| | | Re: I won this on EBay I can see that it will become addictive. I was amazed to see so much life on one tiny piece of rotting wood - a lot of it was crawling around!

| | | Re: I won this on EBay I was looking at the gills of what I thought was Agaricus bisporus today, to see if there was enough resolution to see the 2 spored basidia, when a monster bug came running out towards me from between the gills - in full 3D! I nearly fell off the chair.
I think I could just make out the basidia but it wasn't conclusive. Now I'm off to look at all of the bits of rotting wood I brought home.

| | | Re: I won this on EBay You jammy so and so - IT'S AN OLYMPUS SZX12 TRINOCULAR WITH ONLY ABOUT THE BEST CAMERA SET UP YOU COULD POSSIBLY GET.
Mine is only an Olympus SZX7 with no dedicated camera gear to go with it.
But I do have an Olympus BX50 microscope to accompany it.
I guess you must have been told about that deep scratch on the glass of the objective lens which must have brought the total price down to only £500 (or do I have a nought missing ?)
Neil.
