| | | What are 'Locked-in' eyepieces? Evening all,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I couldn't think of anywhere more relevant!
I've been looking through various websites for stereo-microscopes and keep coming across ones stated as saying they come with ' Locked-in' eyepieces.
What is Locked-in, exactly; does this mean they have a secure catch to prevent them dropping-out and breaking when in transit, or are they unchangeable - ie. part of it?
Thanks for any assistance
Take care, Jason |

A term used to suggest they are 'student' tamper proof! Unless of course the student has a screwdriver handy

| | | Re: What are 'Locked-in' eyepieces? Thanks for the reply John - so a pair of WF20x could be used, with the previous WF10x simply being unscrewed first? Ah!!!
I've seen a beautiful dissecting microscope with a 4x objective and WF10's supplied - 40x. Does this mean I could use any WF20x to get 80x? (there are 'scopes for about £280 that have a 4x objective with WF20x supplied) |

You would have to check with the supplier, but generally the eyepieces can be locked, preventing theft and eliminating the possibility of damage during transit.

| | | Re: What are 'Locked-in' eyepieces? Ah, thanks. My Apex Examiner ( WF10X, 2x obj.) doesn't have a locking function - they just pop in and out.
Two questions - what exactly is the lock involved, how could it be unscrewed?
Are WF20X eyepieces a universal size, and would they fit all microscopes that come with WF10X recepticles? Thanks again! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
