I am well chuffed! I had my first ever Small Elephant Hawk-moth in the garden yesterday at dusk, feeding on the honeysuckle!

I am afraid you avatar is as difficult to ID as a pug!
Are the insects keeping you busy?
Moths have started to pick up over the last week, macro numbers are slightly up on last year but the micro species are double that of this time last year - whether its better weather or I have got my eye in better!
I Just had a Green oak tortrix emerge from a pupa yesterday - I didn't see it actually happen, but there was the empty pupa and it was just drying off so I was pleased.

Hi Shirley. Thanks for your kind message. I must admit to only visiting WAB for a cursory look these days, although as the insects start to appear I'm spending a bit more time. I guess that's the reason that I have only just picked up your message from February! Aargh!
As for the Avatar - can you identify the species?

Hi Neil, how is it going? I see you still have your cute avatar!
I haven't seen you around for a while, I am usually on Wild about the World these days but I pop back here a couple of times a week, so I don't post as much a I used to, too much Dutch stuff. I expect it will change when the moths, insects and my freckles are out in abundance again and I need ID's!
Hope you are well and we bump into each other on the same posts soon.
