Hi Tracey, it sounds as if the accident was the cause of your mum's condition as senile dementia usually creeps up slowly as it did with my Gran. So your mum may improve with time, I hope so.
The worse part for my mum is that for the doctor's to slow down the blindness, she has to have injections directly into her eyeball every few months, which gives me the creeps, though she says the anaesthetic drops hurt but the injection doesn't. She is doing fine now and is getting used to her condition.

Hi Tracey,
Sorry to hear about your mum and I can relate to it. My Gran had the same and she had to be watched like a hawk as she would turn the gas on and walk away and I don't know how many boiled eggs we scraped off the ceiling as she forgot about them boiling away, it's soul destroying to watch.
My mum is in 79 and is slowly going blind, which is sad as she loves reading, watching telly and wildlife. She can see a bit out of one eye so we bought her a 50 inch LCD, talking books etc. She has a remote control the size of a paving slab, thank god she still has a sense of humour as she keeps losing it.
