There's no trace of olivaceous-greenish tinge in the gills of your Sulphur Tuft, which points towards Hypholoma capnoides. Possibly an old buried conifer!
I know exactly what you mean Tim, August was a very wet month up here and I was looking forward to getting out fungi hunting but had to wait for a dry day. September is the opposite, totally dry until today and it has been non stop, so hopefully the next few days should see the fungi sprouting again.
Good evening Ron. I am quite sure your rain will turn up again soon to bring the fungi out! I have been busy and not had time to go out for a proper forage, but suddenly in Lancashire we have dry weather!! Humph!!
It seems to be a good year for the cep up here Tim, must be all the rain we are having. I have seen hundreds of small ones, which disappear by the next day, probably deer eating them. I think this lot was left alone as they were growing beside the forest track.
Hi Tim, Nick Cantle and Cybershot cooked some said they were nice. I think you need to boil them and throw the water away, not too sure though. Good Luck anyway. Keep me informed , I may even try them.
Thanks for the request Tim, gracefully accepted. I actually thought you were on my friends list.
Another great result for PNE, looking good already this season.
