People raise some crazy inverts - when I went to the AES exhibition there were solfugids on sale. I'd love a millipede, though.

It's a great place to discuss & get advice on rearing phasmids - many people on there seem to also be rearing giant millipedes, mantids...even velvet ants (!).

I don't know yet - these are my first leafies, and I got them a few months ago. There are no eggs yet - wish they'd hurry up!

Heteropteryx females can be real stroppy! It does vary - some individuals are tamer. I had one very angry female who would hiss loudly if I so much as tapped the cage & would lacerate my hands every time I tried to handle her. The life-cycle is very slow (freshly laid egg > mature adult = up to 3 years) & they take up so much space: well worth the effort though, if you have the patience! :)

At the moment I keep only Eurycantha calcarata, Aretaon asperrimus & Trachyaretaon bruekneri.

Years ago, I tried (unsuccessfully) to rear a Phyllium species....I was unable to get the hatched nymphs to feed. Are they quite tricky or was I just unlucky?

Ooh, I've heard Heteroperyx are biters. What do you have now? I have the Maclaeys, a pair of Phillium siccofolium and two mantids as well.

It's a close call between E.Ts & Heteropteryx, for my all-time favourite phasmid: they have such marvelously ornate spines/leafy-appendages and autumnal colouration...delightfully inquisitive too!

It's a shame I had to cut back on the number of species I keep - I have less time these days to devote to such hobbies.
