Hello again, just thought i would pop back and thank you for the thread you started for my 2000 posts, i didn't spot it until very late last night , i hadn't even noticed that i was up to that number of posts..Perhaps i need to get out more Hahaha! Thanks again, a very nice post to happen upon :)

Aye-up John hahaa! glad you like my wooden snake , we are doing well with the carvings and sculptures i agree, a nice collection of british art in the Gallery now!
Your course sounds great hope you and the Rotring pen (and other stuff) enjoy your day, i will look forward to seeing some images too ,i hope?
Nice that you will have a bit of time to indulge yourself in your pastime.. Have fun and keep me updated on how you get on?

Missed this completely yesterday - I might have been up and about but awake poss not?! Yes its driving me nuts too that its only a month off half way thro the year and I've barely done anything - I don;t count the Cairngorms March hol as that is still winter!! We're still at home here this morning ... it was fine since getting up but has suddenly gone dark and now hailstones coming down ... fed up - absolutely fed up with it. Would go out and do some shopping but road resurfacing should have been done on Fri now they are saying today and or tomorrow - no-one has turned up yet but you can bet your hat if I go off the estate I wont be able to get back on for hours .... We think we're headed up to the van tonight but I wouldn;t hold your breath - wud'nt take much to put us off!

The walking is going well - and I'm very nearly at 400 miles for the year already! :-O I'll need another pair of new boots at this rate! lol

Thanks for the detail, John. In fact, as luck would have it, my Windows Live Mail system doesn't work. It appears from a Windows forum thread I've seen that it's a known problem, but no solution. Expletive deleted.

By the way, never think exciting things don't happen here regarding species, like simply not previously seen here, or not in Cumbria. Or not in the UK.
It appears I have submitted a Collembola that is new to science, and some other examples have been found in Richmond (London). I understand investigations are on-going, and DNA used to determine where mine belongs, if it's the same one as they have. It sound like a new genus is required too.
Exciting stuff, eh?

Hi Woodman, we were up your way the weekend, sorry we couldn`t get to meet you. Maybe another time. We had a wonderful time walking around Arnside & Silverdale. Great views of the mountains in the Lakes.

Woods, I haven't time for woods. LOL
Though today I rescued two chairs and a table and put them under an old apple tree, next to a fig (? might be one, no leaves yet ?) in view of a dead trunk and some small ash trees. I was supposed to be raking and planning, but decided to spend some time on the "soul" of the place. I need to ask the allotment society if they mind me having a pond, and I want to grow honeysuckle through the council fence. Thanks for the suggestions the other day. Juniper evokes images of moorland and heath. I'm thinking more "secret garden". So I will plant a spindle instead, in your honour! :-D
