If your in this neck of the woods I'll introduce you to my two favourite establishments The Sun and Nellies (The White Horse) named after Nellie Collinson the last member the family who ran the pub for several generations. Your Flossy Lane sounds a lot like our Miss Nellie, when she died about 30 years ago they modernised the pub by putting in a counter in place of the old kitchen table that had served the purpose before. Otherwise the place has kept its old character it still has gas lighting and the original cast iron open ranges in four of the rooms, gets a bit steamy on wet winter nights with all the fires blazing away.
The Sun Inn is also an old establishment with character but with the added benefit of being a free house so are able to offer a wide range of Guest Ales, and of course the live music.

Mett-ous d’la mang’rie dehors pour les mouissaons à chu temps? J’en mets au matin et durànt l’arlevaïe. Nous veit toutes sortes de mouissaons, - des gros-becs et des graïves. Et des rouge-gorges,- et i y a terjous en étourné à prende la mang’rie.
