Hi Sarah, yes we aren't that far apart, I've put in a friendship request to you. Yes, WAB is a lovely site, time consuming though.Sometimes I find it hard to drag myself away when I should be doing other things.I see you have got a pond I've got a biggish pond too....Poe..x
I dunno it could have even been a heavily marked common white, if i see them this summer i will try and photograph them, as i was unaware before and took no notice, i'll keep you posted
Hi Sarah. As far as I know Black-veined White is still extinct.I think that two were seen at one point at Stockbridge Down,I only saw one,it was twitched by many who flattened some of the habitat!.When the first one was seen,it was thought to be a migrant, but then when the second appeared, they were then thought to have been introduced rather naughtily by someone.Could the butterflies in your garden be Green-veined Whites?
Hi.I am indeed just down the road from you.I live in Lord's Hill ,Southampton. So you are in Stockbridge.I used to cycle to Stockbridge to keep fit.The High street(if it called that?)doesn't seem to have changed much, a nice area, the Test Valley.I often visit Broughton down(I would have like to have seen it when we had all that snow),and from time to time Stockbridge Down(the last time was when the Black-veined White was there!).
