Hope its still there .... Ian and I were only talking about the ladys slipper yesterday - we drove past but had to be getting back so have left it till next week when we are on holiday for a week at the caravan - if all goes to plan .......... fingers crossed!
Now the Leafy Spurge is south of Milnthorpe: pass the garage on the left with the car wash, then Oasis Wildlife Zoo thingie on the left and keep on the A6 (our caravan is left at this point) keep on, pass the second garage which actually sells cars as well as fuel and a pub opposite, keep on you will see the big yellow patch of the spurge on the left-hand verge and a few yards past is a parking spot - stop here and nip back a few yards to spurge. If you wind up in Milnthorpe you've overshot - turn back. Let me know if you think it is Leafy?? Tiggryx thought it was poss.
Apologies keen teen - thought you were turning into one of those 'grasping avaricious old botanists - mine all mine' ........ Heh! heh! heh! I know the pond if its the one with the yellow skunk cabbage? In fact I've suddenly remembered - I've seen it before and this is where (don't grow old matey - there's nothing to recommend it - and I'm getting more like my mother every day) anyhow - its on the right in the wet area isn't it as you stand on the road and look at the pond?
Had a look on the info boards at Meathop Moss but no mention of LT - didn't spot any but that doesn't mean it isn;t there - but there is a huge colony of green hairstreaks all over the place!
I'd swap you for some of things you do do have that I haven't - but - I don't know the whearabouts of the things you've asked for!! I remember thinking that I'd found sosmething - no - I'm rambling - I think it was Duke of Argylls Tea Plant on the linear walk between Glasson and Lancaster but I'm going back 30+ years and the memory has faded! I should think Labrador Tea would be on Meathop Moss (where I go an awful lot)? But I haven't seen it - will take notice this next couple of days if we get up there. Peter will know but can you get him to tell you anything or has he mellowed - he was tight as ducks wotsit when I knew him - but don't tell him I said that!!!!
hi Pauline. Have you seen any of the following plants in Lancashire?
Labrador Tea is supposed to be on White Coppice
Greater Cuckooflower is at Witherslack
(if so could you tell me a bit more info because (species at such a place) doesn't help me find it) thanks. I have checked all the websites and have been unsuccessful. :(
You mean the fellow Blackburnians call 'God'?! Yes so legend has it!! If you see him please remember me to him - tell him I was Pauline Mellor - Mr Titterington's star pupil!!
Afraid I haven't been over - I would love to but my life has gone to pot at the min finishing work and taking mam on full time; I'm still struggling to get into a routine that will work for her and for me: maybe next year I will get to it ........ thanks for info tho - I will enjoy your pic vicariously instead!!
