Thankies for the April confirmation and good luck with the house move - the distance you go in the removal van makes little difference - its that damn packing and unpacking and finding new places for everything and getting preoccupied and turning up at the old house before remembering you;ve moved!!!! Thanks again!

Hi Pauline, ask chris too, but I suspect the best time will be early april - they are usually march to early may dep on conditions - but I wont be up there for a good while as moving house etc imminent (still saddleworth of course) so will largely be in the hills round here this summer I think. Good luck, such an exquisite beauty.

Hi Ken - hope all well with you and yours? I'm being cheeky now (if you don't ask you don;t get!) but if you are out and about in the hills anytime soon and you spot the Purple Saxifrage flowering can you give me a heads up please? I've promised to take Gracie to Pen-y-ghent so she can see them for herself - however due to our advancing years we don't want to walk all that way if its not yet out!! Thanks for any help you can manage! I'm going to ask Chris as well as you both were very helpful last year in getting me to see it for the first time.
Regards
Pauline

Second bit of message - I decided to post below and continue afresh here - email is on my website which you can jump to from here or pm me and I will send or it may already be an allowed option from here - not sure - can't remember ........ Mam at the mo is up and down and seemingly determined not to go quietly into the twilight - in fact she's very teed off that life (meaning me) has left her behind ...... all I can do is keep keeping on - seeing her - getting happy then frustrated by her and doing my best to fit my life in as well ...... much like most folk I guess!! Thanks for offers of help tho with the PS ......

Thanks Ken - and apologies for only just coming on my page and finding your message .... talk about living like a lunatic! Thanks yes - I have had support and suggestions and visits with and to Age Concern - a lovely lady called Sharon responds like rubbing the magic lamp! Its taken me a while to track down the admire and blush references - gee whizz - stoppit I shall get all covered in confusion!! I'd love it if you sent precise details and map ref - its something I would dearly like to see but whether I can make it is another matter. I'm struggling to walk above a mile and its painful to watch me do it (and its painful for me to do it ....) I've got badly out of shape and piling weight on - I won;t say how much but morbidly obese would be the description .........

Hi Pauline. 3 things - I know what you are going through, have you had help from Age Concern, I have always found them really helpful?
I thought you might like to see my comments in who do you admire thread, dont blush!
Lastly, I see you and ChrisJB chat about purple sax - that was always one of my annual trips out to photo, (SLR stuff then) on Penyghent and in scotland, Ben Lawers etc - so, I dont know how far you can manage up penyghent, but you dont have to go near the top at all, there is a fab pillar at the base of the trail before it gets steep, coming from theback, pothole side, which although a fair way to get to, is fairly easily accessible, not sheep munched and has nice P.S in April.
If you think it may be a goer, let me know and I'll send more precise details such as grid ref. I have your e-mail I think via NWFG.
good luck with everything.
Ken
