Sounds like you had a good time-hope you had a good kip too!! I must try to get to a meet next year,would love to meet fellow WABbers.....How are is everyone?All is ok here at the mo-spent yesterday tidying the garden,mowing the lawn etc.Getting ready for the weather to turn-its meant to be getting colder and more autumnal,will have to get the jumpers and thermals out soon lol!!

Just sent you an email and now have read this-should have seen this first lol...
So glad your mam seems to be settling in,she may still get confused at times but in her lucid moments you have your mam back:) Must be a weight of your shoulders to know she is in a home where they are looking out for her...
Hope you and Ian can have more time together and get out and about taking more fantastic photos-though hear the weather has been iffy lately up your way!! We have got of lightly by all accounts,its rained at times but not as heavy as some parts of the country..

Taken mam out of the home for the afternoon for the first time today and gave her a run to my cousin Angelas. I was worried that having taken her out she wouldn't go back in and she did muff a bit when we got back and told me it wasn't her home ....... I said thats funny you've been living here for 5 weeks now! So in she went and sat down for her tea as good as gold! One heartening thing - as we drove away from my cousins mam suddenly said 'You've brought me here twice now' ... good lord I nearly drove into a parked car with the shock of her recognition!!! Its 12 months since I took her last ..... There's hope on the table yet .........

Hi Pauline. Thanks for your comments on my photos and for including me as one of your friends and adding my small website to your links. If ever you decide to have a look at the blackbrook reserve (Stanleybank - Slitting mill) let me know and I'll walk round with you, morning is best for the birds and Nuthatch is the star and no need for a hide if you have food they are your friends. Well thanks for the BIG 'UG Deb but that rollercoaster is now off up to the roof!! I get there today and the staff have managed to follow my instructions and get mam to have her hair done and she looks gorgeous - why didn't I take the camera? They've cut her hair short and blow dried the style - its no-one I recognise - but she looks so good and she's improved so much. She's reasonable, chatty and back in her own body - her memory is still affected of course - no-one can make more brain cells once they are lost - but she isn't as upset and confused. She still can't find her room but its just an inconvenience to her now instead of a major drama being played out every ten mins ...... Ian and I are going to take our days off with relish for the first time in months - if we can stay awake long enough that is!!

Just read your post - have a BIG HUG, Pauline. You're definitely not alone with the feelings you are feeling. You need to know that right now, I think. No one can ask more than that you do your best, which you obviously do! It's not easy, I know. And since she asked how you were and said that she loves you proves that your Mum knows that you do too. Even if some days this is so deeply buried that she doesn't seem like she appreciates you.

This week has been a roller-coaster ride of epic proportions: my old auntie used to say god could send her a 'plain' peice when life got tough and she'd had enough of 'life's rich pattern' ....... I know where she was coming from! The Dr has put mam on a mild dose of anti-psychotic drugs which are upsetting her: she's never been 'high' or drunk or chemically controlled in any way before so her body is shocked. After a huge amount of soul searching (another 5am visit on here for a start - lack of sleep) I know its the right thing if it keeps her in the residential part of the home and stops her being put into more secure care with people who can't hold a conversation. Talking of which, she and I had a lovely conversation yesterday of the kind she hasn't been able to manage for months - I got my mam back yesterday for few hours ........ she even remembered to ask me how I was and told me she loved me .... I don't suppose it gets much better than that really ...........

Hi Pauline, Thanks for your comments on my 'Officer' thread. I do like being here, and I do think it's important to try and be helpful. But I get so much back from this site too.

I hope your Mum's doctors/hospital appointment goes well today...as well as can be expected. I'm not a fan of those places so I sympathise with both of you.

Hope you can get out again into our beautiful countryside soon!
