Can't express my surprise and delight this morning, when I spotted a small fallow deer in my back garden. I live in an urban area - although there is a space of green wedge on The Monarch's Way a couple of streets behind us.
It seemed to be limping a little on one back leg, so I called the RSPCA 24 hour line, but was a bit dismayed with the result.
The RSPCA were very prompt and turned up within the hour.
The poor creature had nestled in a fern bed we have at the bottom of the garden.
The RSPCA man said it was getting too agitated so best to just leave it - and if needed they would come back in a couple of days with nets (if it was a nuisance).
As far as I know it is still hiding out here.
We have 3 ponds which it can get water from.
but food wise what do I do?
RSPCA advice was to put some bread out?
Any advice please?
