Hi Nicola.
How are things in Carnoustie? My father's side of the family come from there.
When I was a toddler during the War, we lived in North London. When the bombing became severe, my Mother, Sister and I went to stay with relations living in Smieton Street. Looking back, it was more dangerous living there than in North London! In those days, parents weren't so protective of children and after breakfast I was allowed to roam free. First there was the level crossing to the golf course to negotiate, with the fast trains, then there was the Barry Burn on the course. Next was the sea - and last, but not least, there was the beach at Barry which was mined! Looking back, I'm lucky to be here!
I visited in the 70's and 80's but haven't been back since. I must do so and visit the Angus Glens.
