nick i have been talkin to squishy about his cam he says it would be better to start with a fujifilm what do u think Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd Digital Camera or nikon d40?

Hi Sam, I hope you had a nice new year and a good Christmas!
It's good to see another young member. As for cameras, yes the Nikon D40 or the Canon 400D are both great starting cameras. Bare in mind though that most lenses are not cheap, so you may want to opt for a 'bridge' camera like a Fujifilm (Ask Squishy about his) to save you from buying lenses.
Tips for a beginner are, study your subject well, get to learn about habitats, relationships between animals, growing times, key times of year...
They're all important, but the thing that comes above all of those is lots of patience.
