    Hi Nick,
Just back from the Book Fair and yes I spoke about illustrations and books and everything really - not much to feedback as yet as I have a few follow ups to do - don't set your heart on anything this year! I have come to realise that it all takes quite a while in their world!! :) But all positive!

Nick I really pray to God that you never do understand depression. Because you have to go through it. It's just one short step away from suicide. I was not saying you were thick. Nothing to do with it. ;-)
As for the rest of what you wrote - no comment, LOL.

The other argument is that it takes too much effort to moderate it. As you can imagine, I have even more opinions on this subject. ;-) x

(Sorry I had to split the message up, it was quite large - start from the bottom)

Now you and many others will still say WAB is not a place for sorting out ones problems. And no doubt you have no clue what I am really describing when I talk about this type of mental illness. And you are absolutely right. But I can see a way that we can offer a helping hand to people by just having somewhere we can all go to let off steam, and where everyone is welcome, and where people can just tell everyone how their day went, or whatever. So I will try and "save the Treehouse" because I can see the bigger picture. But if it is detrimental to the site, really and truly, and not just because a couple of people find it "not quite to their taste" then yes, it has to be "annexed" off. Because WAB is what matters, and people will still get to get involved (if and when they pluck up the courage to) and eventually get to know people. But it will take longer, I really believe that.

I used to view the Treehouse as a way of getting to know people better. By having a whole range of topics in there, there was something for everyone. A really easy way to start posting and talking a bit about yourself.

Just to continue what the discussion in the Treehouse thread, one comment I'd like to make (just to give an example of why I answered like I did) is that there are a lot of members with depression. Reading the forums and finding out a little about people I have seen that there is a real therapeutic benefit to having a proper appreciation of wildlife. Now you or anyone can turn round to me and say something like "yes I know, but the place for group therapy is moodgym.com" or wherever, but people here already have common interests, and can escape from reality/their own mentality for a little while by entering the forums. Now an even better way of dealing with this type of illness is building a network of friends. But unless you feel confident enough to attend meets (and I certainly find this a stressful situation, as do others I've met) then you will find this difficult if the forum becomes and endless succession of IDs and questions.

I was all geared up for a rather damp foray. The waterproofs were to make their first appearance for a while, and it was only when I awoke early on the morning of the foray, that I realised I'd be safe leaving them at home. We couldn't have been more fortunate in that it wasn't cold outside, but rather pleasantly warm, with an accompanying breeze.

Upon arriving at Park Farm, we took a few minutes to soak up the view across the valley. We later learned that River Cottage itself, though...

After a short four mile drive, we knew when we had reached the destination as J.P put his hazard warning lights on and pulled over on the left side of the road to park. We got out and immediately starting strolling towards the sign 'Public Footpath' which led away from the roads, house and any other civilisation and made our way down a gravel road full of deep puddles. We took a quick look in the wood-chip that was beside the path that was being used to maintain the gardens of the housing estate...

I departed the house and made my way to the car park. I found David and Chaka waiting on the path. We headed to the car and set off towards Berkshire to rendezvous with J.P.

After quite a drive and some pretty miserable skies, we arrived at Greenham Common and what a lovely place it was. David had been here before and of course J.P was on his home patch so he knew the area well, whereas It was all new to me. Considering that the skies were so dull, the place looked beautiful-...

Spontaneity is a great thing. What would have been a day inside alone, turned into a day of wonderful walking, good company and a handful of nice finds.

I awoke at about 8.15 ready for my 9 o'clock rendezvous with David. Obviously I had set the alarm early to make sure I had time for a shower and of course, a cup of Earl Grey to get me wide eyed. After checking that camera gear was all present, correct and charged, I left the house and headed towards the infamous 'Waitrose car park'...

We'd been rather excited about this trip ever since it had been announced. New terrain is always pretty exciting, especially when the terrain is so variable throughout the forest. Not only was the excitement reserved for what we might find today, it was reserved for the thought scanning the area for patches to revisit in the Autumn months when the fungi season is in full swing. I had prepared my camera equipment the previous evening, mainly so I could get a little bit more sleep in the morning rather...
