They have combs or calamistrum on their back legs which make the silk 'wooly'. It traps prey easier. They're a nocturnal species and generally make their webs at night.

It certainly is Nick. Being a mild-mannered retiring sort of person, I thought I should call myself something interesting. I am interested in spiders, something that I have either picked up from or passed on to my youngest daughter, to the extent that she is now working in that field.

Hi Nick

You are right there are so many interesting threads but there are a few where it pays to keep a low profile. There are also extremly gifted photographers but it is even better that all members encourage the less skilled snappers. Roy
