They have combs or calamistrum on their back legs which make the silk 'wooly'. It traps prey easier. They're a nocturnal species and generally make their webs at night.

hey i need to ask a question. last nite i was in the garden and noticed a lace webbed spider seemed to be rubbing its back legs together. quite a few were doing this. is this behaviour a web making behaviour? i wasnt quite sure. anmy answers wud be appreciated. Nick
