Hi John
I was in the Stones last night till 8pm. I had spotted a few species of fungi on a walk throught the woods the night before, so decided to take the camera in there last night.
I was after a pic of a large group of ink caps at the base of a beech tree, which were in super condition on Tuesday pm, with the wide angle, but on wednesday the had started to deliquess(?) . But when walking back began spotting more fungi I had missed the night before. I was still only walking the footpath, not actively searching.
Got a shot of an interesting group of fungi (not ID yet), with a myxo just behind it in prime condition (Stemonitis axifera), still white in colour.
several other fungi spotted and photgraphed before the light faded.
I will send you an image for your opinion of an ID from home. I've not got any fungi books at work (yet) so havent tried for an ID. Will search WAB to see if I can get a look alike.
Yes, OK for Sunday.

Are you still ok for Sunday?

Morning John
Looking forward to Longshaw this Sunday. A slight problem, in that Jenny is organising a BBQ in the afternoon, but I'm sure she will understand if I am a little late. I will let you know later regarding travel arrangements.

Hi John
Pleased I am not yet back at work, or I would have been there too.
Sunday is still OK with me.
Had a look at the Stones this morning, and don't recommend visiting there just yet. Still too much ground cover. It will also take some getting used to the dark again. LOL
Clumber is fine with me, as it has such a variety of habitat that we should find something of interest, even if its only butterflies!
I would imagine that Sherwood / Budby is still rather dry. But if you have anything else in mind, I'm fine with that. It will be great just to get out again.
Still no car, so can I suggest you pick me up at 'The Little Mester' at 9.30am. (earlier if you want).
Drive past the cricket club car park, up the hill for about one mile, the pub is on your left.
See you Sunday.

Hi Les
I was stuck at university until 7 last night. It was total gridlock with the rain!

Hi John
Sorry I missed you on Sunday, it would have been nice to have another trip to the Stones.
I have been trying out the camera on Anston old pit tip, now a fledgling nature reserve. Yesterday, I pushed the ISO up to 1600, without any ill effects, to get 1/160 sec at f22.
It's a heavy camera to carry slung around the neck, I certainly knew about it after a couple of hours. I don't fancy having the flash on it just yet.
Still maintaining at least 5 miles a day, but I think I'm slowing down. The old legs are feeling it.
I noticed Coprinus plicatilis in the local park this morning. First time anything has shown on there for quite a while.
Have you had any news on your Clumber Bolete?
Margaret has her operation next Monday, so that's going to limit my activities for quite a while. We will have to see how things go, and get a new routine sorted out.
Meanwhile, keep me informed of any trips to the Stones.
