I am on Bird Forum and a suggestion for less sunflower heart wastage was to get the birds to feed upside down. Apparently they don't drop as much. I have two identical poles and will have two very cheap feeders soon (Santa didn't read the list correctly, LOL). They have to be cheap because I have to modify them so the seeds don't fall out (the bit that gives the hopper effect has to be the right way up). Then I will have to get them to feed, and collect the wasted hearts. They probably won't use the two at the same rate, so I'll put a scale on the feeders to see how the seed goes down, and do some monitoring by simple observation in case I haven't considered all options.
I want to know one way or the other. Fairly simple to find out for sure, I think (hope).
