Sorry Keith I posted this to my self last week (im working too hard) = How weird thats exactly what Im doing in the next couple of weeks I allready have the canon x1.4 mk2 but I cant seen to make that work on the 100-400 it just seems to x1.4 the softness and light loss. I get a better image without it and by cropping to the same size, Anyway good luck with it Ill keep an eye out for some more of your shots.

thought i recognised the tree :-) (and the mist!),
the new lens is a canon 300mm f4 prime lens with a kenko 1.4x converter, very happy with the results so far,i bought it to replace my 100-400mm,its lighter and the pic quality is better, even with the converter, took a while to get used to not having to ' pump ' the lens,i found i was only using my old lens at full 400mm anyway and having seen various pics on here took the plunge, glad i did.

I went down there some time ago when it was newish but have seen some good shots from down there recently one particular cracking grebe shot, it did make me think I should get down there before crimbo. The profile pic was taken on the walk between Blackwater and Ober taken the w/e before the rut meet, oh that mist. Is your new lense a 300 kenco or is it just the converter thats a kenco.

hi rob,
i still get out once a week with the camera, havent been looking for deer tho,had a change of scenery,i did however have a plan of going out to the usual spot wednesday, driving down the a35 on the way i got distracted by the sun breaking through the mist and that was that, pulled over and never got near the deer!,
ive been spending a lot of time over at blashford lakes in ringwood, ever been? theyve a good collection of hides overlooking loads of lakes all connected with some good walks.
love the profile pic by the way.
