- Yes thats it exactly ... your mouth waters at delicious cooking smells and then control is lost and down it goes, then an hour or two later you begin to think 'Now was that such a good idea?' ... And for days or weeks after your bowel is unhappy and lets you know it ... I've had some very sharp pains on the right side of my tummy - sudden and vicious with no warning - I'm glad they don;t get going - that they are only brief stabbing pains. I took Dulcolax yesterday to get myself empty and had no pain since ... but its cold weather and I want to EAT!!!!!
- Hi Elaine I thought I had answered this one but obviously not - I'm going doolally! How are you and the little health issue?? I've had twinges but don;t deserve sympathy at all cos I;ve had all sorts of stuff while on my own at the caravan a few days ago .... chocolate, ice cream Mars, a ginger cookie the size of a dinner plate, and got up to four lumps in my morning coffee - I have no control over sweet stuff - I can only control it if I break the craving and have none - haaving a little leads to having a lot given a few short weeks .... I don't use the tripod for insects that are moving - that is when I hand hold and turn the speed up to compensate or use a bit of flash - tho this usually blows the subject when in macro. Even that fancy ring flash I got I haven't had time to practice with and probably won't use again till fungi time next year! Tho I think it will be useful for dragonflies if I can get used to it!

- 07-12-2011 08:04 PM - permalinkBillyPilgrimRegarding your 'duff' shots. I can speak from experience that this is often the case when you get a new lens. When I got my Canon 500mm I thought all I had to do was point it at the birds and I'd be taking fantastic shots. Big mistake - despite being a top lens it still needed lots of practice to get decent results. Happy shooting!
- 07-12-2011 05:46 PM - permalinkBillyPilgrimHi Kayleigh, good to hear that you've got your new lens. The bird shots look great. How are you getting to grips with it? Looks like you've been having fun!

- That tripod willl revolutionise your photography - you will be surprised at how much sharper things will be if you make sure you use it. Hand-held is a new state for me - I've been a devotee of tripods for years in all situations. Going down to a smaller lens means I can wave the camera about - in good light only - and still get sharp results - if I had put it on the tripod at Gigrin I would have got even sharper results. And I forgot to turn the stabiliser off too - I've heard it recommeneded that it is turned off when the light is good for flight shots they say its not needed. Of course November is the wrong month for wanting bright light and practice - its like baying for the moon it aint likely to happen!!!
- LOL! I've had lenses out of bathroom and bedroom windows when new and not able to get out to try properly! Use One Shot for a posed or static bird - one singing on a post that sort of thing. A1 focus stops when the subject stops and moves to follow it next time it moves (I think?!) Ok for birds that run then stop! and A1 Servo is continuous hunting and searching for focus best for flight where movemment is continuous.
