Hi ther Jim..visited 'Bricket wood' last week ..found pleny of the 'Common Bonnet' funig but didnt seem to be much else around..it was rather damp in places ...but some great Autumn colours..It covers a large area ...so i will be returning again very soon.. :-)

The day turned out better than i thought..But as you mentioned it is dry almost everywhere at the moment..That Tulip tree will look fantastic in full Autumn colours..looking forward to a pic..lets hope you dont miss out..and you find the leaves have dropped with all this wind that we've been having lately...;-)

Hi Julie.
It's looking nice out now. I was going to do some gardening, but the ground will be a bit sticky after last nights rain - so after lunch I'm going out to have a walk in Whippendell Wood to see what's about. I'll let you know if there's a lot of fungi out.

It looks and sounds like an interesting area..lets hope when i make my visit the sunshines so i can take a little walk about and make it more of an enjoyable day out..
Do you know on what street you can find the PO.Ive printed off a map covering from Station Rd down to Bucknalls lane.

Thanx for directions and for parking...Have printed of a map of the common and also a copy of The Abbey Flyer waymarks , showing various routes starting from the bricket wood station with a 1.5miles loop walk and another up 4 miles..this week end is not good for me either...but its on the cards for me very soon..
