Hi Jim, could i pick your brain please. Is a Dotterel a wading bird or is it more inland. I am going to try and make one for a friend and I have not a clue about it .

Hi ther Jim..visited 'Bricket wood' last week ..found pleny of the 'Common Bonnet' funig but didnt seem to be much else around..it was rather damp in places ...but some great Autumn colours..It covers a large area ...so i will be returning again very soon.. :-)

The day turned out better than i thought..But as you mentioned it is dry almost everywhere at the moment..That Tulip tree will look fantastic in full Autumn colours..looking forward to a pic..lets hope you dont miss out..and you find the leaves have dropped with all this wind that we've been having lately...;-)

It was a lovely day. Whippendell Woods were dryish, but there weren't many fungi. I took shots of a couple, and if after I've ID'ed them and they're interesting, I'll post them. I don't think this year's going to be much good for fungi, from what I've seen. The tulip tree in Cassiobury Park is starting to look spectacular. When it colours up a bit more and the light is right I'll take some shots of it. Here's an image I took a couple of years ago - I'd like to improve on it by waiting 'till the sun's lower in the sky.
