Glad you got the camera back-eventually!! What was the problem?
Kestrels dispersed quickly this year,think the hot weather sent them to the refuge of the trees instead of hanging around castle.Three young-all females again!
Saw at least two juvenile sparrowhawks on the downs,by the sound of it still begging for food of parents.That was on Sunday-so should still be around for a while.
My sighting of the year must be the juvenile cuckoo-pure luck I saw it,down near the flood plains towards Benfleet.Here is a photo of it

Hi Paul,thanks for the comment on the LTT-they were sitting in trees on the footpath going towards Benfleet in the park.Still around this morning too!

Good luck with the deer Paul dont forget the Fallow bucks will cast their antlers in a couple of weeks and the Roe are changing from winter grey drab coat to the bright ginger summer jacket, fingers crossed eh !

Hi Paul, am better than I was last wekk-had stomach bug of some sort but feel better now.Have been keeping an eye on the kestrels at the castle.They were displaying last Sunday and he was feeding her,so think it all looks good!! Having to shorten walk on Saturday morning but plan to make up for it in the afternoon.The other kestrels in the country park looks like they are settling down.I also want to walk Benfleet downs to listen out for the nightingale! Has been heard singing,think I roughly know where it is too!
Still not heard a cuckoo though!
Sunday hopefully will be out early to go through the valley and along the downs. Love this time of year,if you cant get the birds on camera the insects and butterflies are about!!!

You may get some cub photos,have seen them before in the country park,also weasels.Saw a weasel in Piggery Lane,it ran across and ran up the embankment of the reservoir!! They are all over the park but all I usually see is a small red blur-fast and busy little things.Yes we may meet finally on Sunday,lets hope the weather is better than todays!!!
