Cheers I've just read it, I am terrible at speaking in front of groups! I think I will just wait for the initial surveys etc haha! I'd put under "other" that your available on the dates on the grid until *insert date* when you are at college/uni (?) and you do not have your timetable yet so your availability may change. They will probably re-check your availability when they contact you to start volunteering anyway. I will hopefully have a job by the end of this year (sooner the better!) so im going to put im free whenever now then under other that i am currently looking for a full time job so my availability may change by the time they need volunteers.
hmm...just reading the form adn one bit I'm a bit stuck on this the availabilty table, because when it gets up and running later in the year, I don't know what times I would be available yet
Just sent off the email and got yours thanks hannah.
Ah right that sounds ok you had me worried for a second lol.
lol yeah I thought I was crazy at first and wondered what on earth is that? but soon realised they were bats, none of my family can though and they think I'm making it up lol
Oh and I have just read your post about hearing bats. I hear them too, I often hear them before I see them and then locate them by sound! I had a friend (ex friend haha) that laughed in my face when I told her I could hear bats! How wrong was she! haha!
haha yes a swap sounds good! Just emailed it to you. Don't worry its not a test they just want an idea of what you have done, they will be taking on volunteers with no or little experience and ones with years of experience. Well for a start you do a lot of walking in the area, photographing and identifying local species, your interested in establishing whether there are any adders in the area and your interested in setting up a light trap for moths- something they may be interested in doing for their reserve centre/visitor activities! I've put down my degree and surveys I have done as well as graduate IEEM membership and IEEM workshops I have attended. I've mentioned im working on my local bird identification and bird call skills whilst walking the dog daily as well as other local flora and fauna and that I am familiar with the dovestones area as I regularly visit.
Oh dear skills and experience :$....lol, what sort of things would they need to know?. Thanks my email is jamesminchin58@hotmail.com, she attached a pdf file about the events teams, we could swap lol
Yes she mentioned that too and said she had attached a role description and his contact details but there was no attachment so I may just email him to see exactly what the role is. I am definitely not good at public speaking!!
Yeah I would think the surveys would be something you are able to do, I don't know any details on what surveys they would be doing- I would hope it would be a wide range and not just focused on birds, I would presume they would do vegetation surveys at least. You can always ask if you can be involved in initial surveys as well, no harm in asking! She hasn't asked if I have any experience but they will get an idea from the "skills/experience you have to offer" on the form! If you send over your email add I'll email it to you, infact I'll just forward the email so you have the team event contact details too incase you want to find out what thats about!
Hi Hannah. I got a reply today too, she mentioned to me an events team, but don't know whether I would be up that, public speaking and all lol. Would be good if you could email the form thanks. If you hear anything about the surveys, do you think it could be anything that I could do too? Sorry I'm a bit clueless as to where to begin, never done anything like this you see.
Hi James, I emailed Kirsten yesterday and had a reply today. Apparently they have just interviewed for a site manager so when they start there may be some initial surveys etc that I have asked if I can be involved with as well as volunteering once it is established. She said there should be lots of volunteer opportunities late 2009/early 2010. She has sent me a volunteer forum to fill in I can email it to you if you would like a copy.
