Hi Harasseddad, I viewed one of your post replies and you seemed very knowledgeable about dragonflies! I wonder if you could help me with a question I have? This morning a Darter (Four Spotted I think) nymph started to emerge. We watched it for a while as it made good progress but as it's wings began to unfold it lost it's grip in the wind and fell of it's perch. We carefully helped it to crawl back up on a stick but the wings were damaged. I returned to have a look later, but the wings never opened properly and remained crumpled and the Darter was unable to fly. I presume this emergence stage is very precarious and any damage can be fatal. Is there anything we could have done and would it have been better to have left it where it fell? The Darter was holding onto a wooden picket fence and I wonder if it had chosen a more natural perch such as the reeds it would have stood a greater chance of survival? Thanks for your help.
