Yes it could be the same one, he was very relaxed, the school children from saddleworth school were all stood around on a site visit and he was not bothered by all the noise and people at all. Shame I didn't have my camera on me at the time- typical!
No I didn't I will have to have a walk over sometime thanks for letting me know. James has also passed on the email addresses for volunteering so I will give Kirsten an email.

Hannah, that heron - interesting - there is very often a heron on the dead tree on the far bank of the canal between uppermill and the new kingfisher pub - he just sits on top and isnt disturbed easily at all! Poss same one, got used to people, easy to photo.
You know we have a heronry in Sadd? its in the sewage works at friezland, best watched from the bridleway near the horse arena near manchester road.
its only small, about 3 to 5 nests - They fly (commute!) from there, often over wharmton/grasscroft area towards strinesdale and leesbrook to feed, as far as I can see. Sometimes 4 at once.
cheers

Thanks for that I'll talk to James =)
Not really I saw a pair of Jays the other day and a juvenile heron posing by the pond in Uppermill. How about you?

Hi Hannah, i'm fine ta - rspb still going ahead, but some delay i gather, dont know why - it might be as well to ask james if hes had any response from Roy Taylor re volunteering?
For information prior to contacting them yourself, have a chat with James - he may have a contact point for the vollies person there directly rather than via Roy - if not , let me know and i'll send an e-mail address for them...........
Any good spots around here recently?
Cheers

Could I have the details please. I'd be interested in volunteering with them, and also taking part in any surveys if they do any before deciding a management plan.
