Hi Pete, yes we are staying in Holland for Christmas, just the four of us. Now I am organised I can get down to the buisness of looking forward to it and enjoying it. Hopefully we will be back in Cumbria in the summer.
Hope you are well enough to get some serious walking in tomorrow, don't forget the camera! I am also hoping to get out tomorrow - if not it will be after Christmas which I will be in desperate need I am planning on plenty of eating. I have already been on the mince pies for over a week and had to make a second batch.
Take care and enjoy yourself!

Thanks Shirley, Happy Christmas to you and your family too! I hope you have a wonderful time over the festive period, and I wish you all the best for 2009!
I hope to do some more walks over the Christmas period - I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms as I've not been out for a walk for a couple of weeks now, due to a nasty bout of sore throat and cold. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get out, and then again after Christmas.
Are you spending Christmas in the Netherlands? And will you be visiting the Lake District next year?

Hi Pete, I just thought I would wish you a very Happy Christmas!
Have you any walks planned to make up for any Christmas over indulgence? Have a lovely time what ever you are up to and all the best for 2009.

Hi Shirley,
I've just been having a quick look at your impressive home page again - very interesting!
I liked your Jay photos - I can't remember the last time I saw one in my parent's garden here, must have been a year or more ago. I see them frequently on my walks though, and saw one just up the road as I was driving home yesterday. We've just started having a Nuthatch visit our bird feeders, and the House Sparrows have returned after an absence of several years.
Your moths are interesting too - they're a subject I'd like to learn more about. I've come across three on my walks recently - Burnet Companion, Chimney Sweeper and Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet. The only new butterflies I've seen this year have been Large Skipper and Dingy Skipper. Very few butterflies at all in the garden so far.
I presume you'll be off to the Lake District again sometime?
Pete
