I'll get back to you soon! : ) But off the top of my head Jasmine would be a great moth plant to grow up a wall, and lovely fragrance too. But i'll have a mull and send you a pm. See if you like the sound of any of my suggestions! Best wishes-jez : )

Yes, apparently so. Found I believe on the Mexico/Guatamalan border by a farmer tending his crops.
Don't know the species though - perhaps I should find out.
    Cheers!

Thanks Shirley - long time no hear - just been having a wander thro your Lakes pics - like that lovely coloured Sizergh Castle one! Must go in there and have a proper look next year - only been on the car park a couple of times for the first time this year - watching the hawfinches and trying to figure out how to get closer for a few pics!!!

Thanks Pete, the Jays have been always so welcome to the garden and a pleasure to see. This last few months though, they have taken to chasing young birds into the window and if they don't fly off straightaway and are winded or injured the Jays take them.

The Moths are a great love and interest - although I almost came a cropper last night - I was up the ladder taking piccies of the moths in the buddleia and a gust of wind blew the buddleia in to me almost knocking me off the ladder, it was pure chance I wasn't holding a torch aswell as the camera or I would'nt have been able to hang on. It freaked me out a bit to be honest! But saying that I have recorded more new moth species to the garden this year - thank goodness for WAB so I can get loads ID'd.

We will be in the Lakes next week - hooray!

Just been watching the Tour - another great stage in appaling conditions! Its not much better here.

    Hi Shirley,

I've just been having a quick look at your impressive home page again - very interesting!

I liked your Jay photos - I can't remember the last time I saw one in my parent's garden here, must have been a year or more ago. I see them frequently on my walks though, and saw one just up the road as I was driving home yesterday. We've just started having a Nuthatch visit our bird feeders, and the House Sparrows have returned after an absence of several years.

Your moths are interesting too - they're a subject I'd like to learn more about. I've come across three on my walks recently - Burnet Companion, Chimney Sweeper and Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet. The only new butterflies I've seen this year have been Large Skipper and Dingy Skipper. Very few butterflies at all in the garden so far.

I presume you'll be off to the Lake District again sometime?

Ha :D And I know what you mean on the new species. I've a refound enthusiasm for wildlife over the last few years (probably due to taking up photography) and find myself similarly excited if it's something I don't recall seeing before! Won't be long before you're over now then?
