A fine day foraying in the rain it was indeed, John. Who could wish for more.

The picture of Jesse is even better than the one of Patch. LOL

The sensor cleaning worked beautifully. I must get a kit for myself, as its bound to happen again with the number of times I use the tubes.
Thanks for the pics and the sensor cleaner, not to mention the advice which gave me the confidence to do it.

The spots were on the Tubaria ... unless it was my monitor lol I'll check and post.

Are you going to put the morel in the morels 2009 thread? I'm sure it is var vulgarius though ... but!

I've sent you an email, John.
I have this one at home if further checks can sort out which sp. it is. Should I dry it or pop it in fridge?
Philips says M. vulgaris is associated with Pine, but this was under Ash. But I certainly wouldn't question your wisdom. LOL

I have a 'composite' image showing cap and gills but don't think it is worthwhile for the Gallery. I'll email it this evening and see what you think.

I had not heard of the fire. They say it was near the site of another fire of two years ago.
As the trees were 14 year old pines, then I suppose it is better than mature B-L woodland being destroyed.
Its a place I've never set foot in.

As T. furfuracea grows on woody debris, then it must have been a v small piece, as we didn't see any signs.
Are you putting it up, or shall I?

Did you hear about the fire at Sherwood Pines?

Forestry Commission on fire at Sherwood Pines Forest Park

Whilst bad news it should be very useful for future fire site fungi!

btw the small 'furry' fungi we found at the edge of the field turned out to be a young Tubaria furfuracea!
