Hi Pauline, yes was pleased to get the orange tips, mind you they sure do get around!!!!Manged to get a shot of male cuckoo today-not nearly as good as yours but is the closest I have ever got to it.Image is in image Gallery-my BOTD too!!
LOL what a picture that conjures up!!!! Last night came to nothing and today is still warm but there is a cool breeze thats taken the edge of a bit.......
Yes I can and I would like to!! Yes I get up to watch too! But I didn't know you could be struck thro the window - that wouldn't be good esp as in the night I would be naked and no rubber bottomed shoes on either!!
Blimey that was close-can you imagine what it would be like chasing a tornado in U.S??
Just turned radio on to M.W.and its crackling like anything so someone somewhere is getting a storm!!If we have one tonight I cant help myself and just have to get up to watch the lightning-mind you I watched a programme on thunderstorms and they said that you can be struck by lightning thru glass!!
In fact the last storm I chased a couple or three years ago now probably I very nearly came to grief with it ...... I jumped in the car and headed off towards M/cr and ran into deep flooding on the East Lancs Rd - I got thro that and should have taken that as a warning and didn't. I chased this storm up the M62 towards the Pennines and into the Craven Valley around Todmorden, Rawtenstall and Bacup - north from M/cr towards Yorks and one of the towns was having flash floods - its was just like you see on the telly - except I was stupidly there, I know the area but not enough to get around flooding like that and the police were closing the town off - when I made a break for high ground I was on the only road left open ....... it was scary and silly and a pity I didn't have the camera with me - I wanted to scare myself and I succeeded!!!
Its a cracker ellen! I wonder if you are getting a thunderstorm tonight? It was our turn last evening but it really just didn't amount to much at all - it was all very dark and threatening but a few claps of rather distant thunder which I couldn't hear above the telly and a bit later some sheet lightening reflected in the windows across the road and that was it - damp and squib! Which description probably tells you I enjoy a good thunderstorm and if I lived in middle America I would be a storn chaser - not to record anything scientific but just cos I love it!! I sort of prance around daring it to get worse and on the odd occasion when it has I've wished I'd kept my big gob shut!!!!!
Thanks for comment on the bee fly photo. It was flying around a lot but was travelling in the direction I was going.Managed to catch up and take shot as you can see:)
I am on the ibrufen-sustained release for my back,my sister came round today, she is a sport therapist and gave me some excirsices to do to stretch out the lower back-which is where the pain is.Must say so far so good, back certainly feels less tense. She also advised to keep moving and apply a hot water bottle when sitting-in this weather?Mind you in the last half hour I have developed a stormy head and there is a dirty looking cloud developing to the west!!
Mums photos came out good,as for the videos-well lets just say I have a lot of editting to do as I have some lovely shots of her feet as she is walking lol!!
Yes in retrospect it was great! Now I've had the experience I may be able to relax and enjoy the next one and not worry so much about 'am I getting this right?' .... I had to get the paramol box out too - 3 in a morning and 2 in the afternoon which is why my digestion had a wobble as well .... hope yours settles down soon. We had a thunderstorm last evening - don't know how that quite managed to blow up without me noticing but it went from and arc of blue to black amazingly quickly! Yes next year - thats what everyone said - I will have to recover from this one before I think about that!!!! Glad your mum had a good time and got the pics and video too? Right must get on with the huge amount of work piling up here in my absence!!
Read thread-sounds like you all had a great time.Would love to go if I can sort transport out-maybe next year? Mum is back from Oz and loved it-plenty of good photos too:)
I am suffering from bad back at mo but its not stopping me going out and about, strong painkillers keep me going.....Isnt the weather grand-just have to keep reminding meself its April!!!
