LOL I am a bit like Ian,I dont like anything that is meant to enhance the flavour of food.Dont like hot and spicy food either........I can never understand how anyone wants to eat something that burns the tastebuds of their tongue!!!!!
-
No I'm no fan of very hot spicy stuff - I like to taste what else is in the meal not just chillies! Ian won't eat anything hot or spicy - he's always watching when I'm cooking in case I put too much of anything in - he doesn't even like herbs sprinkled on anything - I love oregano on tomato in sandwiches - he starts spitting like he's got a feather on his moustache and asking what the hell have I put on his sarnies!!!!

LOL these are soooo funny-I can relate to MOST of them, see I dont eat mexican:D

Love it ellen! Poomg - yes its got a ring to it! My cousin Alistair (who has been very ill with Crohns) is nick-named Dr Bowel cos there isn't much he now doesn't know about the subject and how to work around it! I'm still not out of the woods - I can't seem to get back to eating without the pain and don't know whether to continue eating or whether to keep on backing off it - I suppose this is what its like at this stage ....

Yes I think I will try to get that prune juice you advocate and take a small glass daily-trial and error will let me know if its to be morning or evening though......must say that thread is very enlightening,it highlights a lot of problems I recognise in some people I know. For instance some folk always have drinks with added sweeteners,I wonder if they suffer with the side effects mentioned?
With all the help and advice thrown your way I am sure you will soon be out and about, indeed you are already helping others too with what you have found out on this condition-we will be calling you poomg soon lol!!!!
Take care

If you are 'regular' ellen you probably don't need it and it might lead to 'running'. But a wineglassful at bedtime (clean your teeth after it is sweet!) or perhaps even better a wake-up small glass at breakfast could be a nice way to bounce into the day. I don;t know what they sell in the supermarket by way of prune juice - and some s/markets do have healthy brands in - Waitrose I notice did stock a lot of good stuff but I don't know about now. My point is prune juice in asda if they do it might be a commercial brand full of sugar - the nice one is from the health food shop - mine is Rabenhorst.

I might try some then-but not too much initially, dont want too much of a side effect lol!!!

If you like a thicky syrupy fruity sweet tast that I can't quite describe - it isn;t sickly sweet - well not to me - but then I've been without food for two weeks (barring the few mouthfuls in hospital and the leek and Potato soup) so my mouth is tasting things as is - even the apple juice which I used to find 'tart' is sweet and pleasant - the trick to it is not to have any form of sugar - then things taste properly - so yes I'm finding it delicious to almost addictive!!

By the way I hate prunes but is prune juice as nice as you say it is lol??

Hi Pauline, good to see you back on here....just have to get you right physically.Sorry you have been thru such a tough time, there is a history of bowel probs in my family-indeed I had IBS for some years but mine was stress/hormone related.Thankfully its abated in the last few years but its always at the back of my mind if I get twinges! My mum is not too bad-after her stint in hospital with a bad kidney infection she has taken it easy but is good at mo.Rusty is due blood test next week but is stable...we did get rather wet this morning but glad I didnt take him out this afternoon-we had monsoon type rain for a while!!!!!
