You can't beat yourself up over you not able to have your mam stay with you-it rarely works out for the better.I have seen it first hand and it really puts a terrible strain on all concerned.....hopefully she may be getting used to the new regime as she has not phoned you straightaway. As I said dont start thinking you should be doing more-you have done as much as you can so far,I think she is lucky to have you!!
I have had a hectic morning taking my mum shopping-you know what its like"can we go to the wool shop,oh and Homebase,oh and....."the list went on!
Have just had lunch and am catching up on my emails etc, will be meeting my mate Andrea later to take the dogs out-mind you its started to rain so walk maybe consigned to the woods where its a bit drier underfoot........Going out for the day tomorrow, weather looks better than it is today.......

One pile (the older one, measures 15 inches deep .... oh dear .... and the newer pile is a mere 7 inches deep ...... oh dear, oh dear ...) Enjoy your well earned break ellen hope your back lets you do a few enjoyable things! Tables have turned with mam unexpectedly - she hasn't found the phone which is a puzzle? While here she kept asking to stay here on our settee and I kept saying no mam you can't stay here not even for a night (do it one night and I'd never get her back home ...) if Ian came thro the door from work and found her staying on our settee he would walk right back out - same if I came home and found his mother staying - its just not poss - we haven't the room to share with a third person - esp one who cannot be left on her own for fear of her getting lost, burning the house down, putting the elec kettle on the hob etc ........ I feel for her - this is a horrible situation but she can't live on our settee ........

Glad to see mam has been ok in the home, mind you i bet she has missed you on the end of a phone-you will be finding out how much now lol!! Have had a nice break from work, mostly taken up with family though.Am hoping to go to Colchester Wednesday and may go to Abberton reservoir for some bird watching.....
Sounds like you have the same filing system as me-I have a pile of papers to sort through at the mo and really need to sort them soon.......

Mam done ok according to phone calls I've made to the home while away - its not cured her of her confusion and forgetfulness but I didn't expect it to! Glad to hear you are managing to get out even if you can't prize your mam away from the telly! Better get going - there's been a mountain of stuff and mail and email to sort out ands bills and insurance ........ where does it all come from ...... and why does my filing system not work (poss cos I haven't got a filing system - just a rapidly growing pile of paper that I search thro!!!) Better get going and go and fetch her home - then I can go back to the phone ringing every few seconds again ....... where's the off switch!!

Hope your mam settles in well-an neighbour had to go into a care home and she ended up loving it!! She loved a natter and found she had a captive audience-it didnt matter to her if they listened or not!Of course it depends on how the home functions and as to whethre she adapts to the regime,I am sure she will by the sound of it-really hope so...
Back let me have a nice walk with Rusty this morning without much of a twinge-mind you it was a bit chilly despite the sunshine......just getting ready for an afternoon stroll, trying to persuade mum to come but I can hear she is watching an old film on the tv,so may not have much luck.Just spent an hour installing a wireless printer onto 1 pc and 2 laptops-seems to work on all but not networked properly, have no idea how to do that so will leave things as they are and see what happens!

I don't think I've ever seen the top side before either so well done! I've never been out of this country - saying that there's not many counties left that I haven't been in or to - and most will be the home counties I suspect! Take it steady with your back - its something you don't need to keep upsetting .... I'm off to get showered and dressed - the alarm chappie has just been to service the burglar alarm which went off for no reason a few nights ago - and then its down to mams to take her to the care home for her first spell of respite care ....... wish me luck!! Yesterday we went from 'I;m not going into care' to 'perhaps I will like it and have some company' ...... give me strength!!

Just seen your comment on the holly blue-I have never seen one with wings unfolded-they always seem to have wings folded up!!:)

Yes Rusty is stable at mo!! Back lets me know when I am doing things wrong lol......found I can still go for walks albeit at a slower pace.
Talking of Oz-its not something I would do,not much of a traveller abroad.Did a bit of travelling when younger but now happy to go on hols in this country!! Mind you mum has booked to go to Oz next year-on her own,for a month!!!! She is looking forward to it but at same time fretting about the flight. She wil be staying with her cousin who is coming over here next week for 3 weeks, she is also hoping to visit another cousin who I tracked down on the internet. He is her dad's brother's son-another cousin-who had no idea of his english family. So she should really enjoy meeting him....

Thats good news re Rusty! Oh hell sorry to her agbout the back - you didn't need that to happen did you? I've gone over on my bad ankle so its back to wearing the support again which is a nuisance as my foot is already swollen from interrupted blood supply all these years - well |I think thats why? Yes August is a rotten month for us too - Ians dad on the 10th (11 years I think) and my dad on the 9th 6 years ago - doesn't time pass? Perhaps next year you willl get to go out to Oz and visit or does it not appeal?! I'm off to bed jiggered - again - I'm going to spend this next hol asleep I reckon!!

Rusty is doing well -in fact took him to see Margaret(vet)to check out some lumps and skin tags and she assured me they are just fatty lumps and warts! She was very impressed how he looked,he is bright eyed and bushy tailed at mo!! Fingers crossed he stays that way......next blood test due mid september.
We have been decorating and I hurt my back going up and down the ladder painting-its still iffy but found I am better walking around rather than sitting too long.Mum overdid it too,she was aching all over, she has also been a bit down as it was 4 years since dad died last saturday. But hopefully she will pick up when her cousin comes over from Oz next week!!She is rally looking forward to that....
