- 15-02-2009 07:23 PM - permalinkPete CollinsI've still to get up early enough for a sunrise photo! :) I really should make the effort, your shots really should be all the inspiration anybody needs!
I might have tried for another sunset photo yesterday, but I'm stuck indoors with ghastly sore throat and head cold at the moment. I'm looking forward to getting out and getting some more photos sometime, though.
Regards,
Pete - Your early morning shots are always a pleasure to see Ellen..I must start to get myself out and about early very soon....:-)
Julie - I've been quiet and missing ..... too much on with mam to get on here - lots of hassle finding unpaid bills that have gone to credit companies and court and the like for recovery of the money - I'm begining to wonder what I will turn up next ........ that and hospital appointments - she is booked for a brain scan on Mon maorning at Wigan so we should soon be nearer confirming or denying that she has Alzheimers.
Hope all ok with you? With not looking at anything much - except clocking Lily's shocking news today - I wouldn't know what's been going on.......... Pxxx - 08-02-2009 06:39 PM - permalinkPete CollinsHi ellen,
Well, I managed a shortish walk yesterday afternoon and took loads of photos - snow scenes and a few sunset shots. Don't know how good they are yet, as I can't load them onto my PC as the Monitor has died! Hopefully I'll get a new one tomorrow, and will then load the best shots onto WAB. I'm using my Parent's PC at the moment.
Did you get out and get any photos this weekend? I guess I should look in the Gallery to see ... - 06-02-2009 10:23 PM - permalinkPete CollinsYes, it's frustrating when the weather prevents you taking good photos. I was disappointed on Tuesday when it clouded over at lunchtime, the photos I took from then on were nowhere near as good as the one's I'd taken in the morning with a vlear blue sky.
I remember (just!) the winter of '62-63, when the snow was so deep it came up to my head (well, I was only 5!). But I still remember we had to walk to school through it!
Anyway, I hope you get the chance for some photography tomorrow. Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to do a long walk tomorrow, as I need to take my parents shopping (if the roads are clear!). We ordered something from Tesco but they've had to cancel the delivery three times because of the snow! Hopefully I'll get out for a short walk and a few photos .. - Yes I know what you meant! No snow here - but forecast seems adamant that we get some this weekend at some point - I'll believe it when I see it - but knowing out luck and the fact that its our one weekend in 7 off - I could just see it being a sod and laying it down three foot thick which would prevent out proposed day out ........... off to bed now - was up till 2am working on images (well trying to find my original buzzard images as they may be going to be published) again I'm not counting chickens - the originals when found didn't look as good as the one's tweaked and adjusted on my website - but rationally I suppose all originals (esp raw) will be like that and the tweaking the publisher does is what lifts them up........... we shall see - I'm not going to get excited yet......
- 06-02-2009 07:58 PM - permalinkPete CollinsHi ellen, that's a shame all your snow has melted. Perhaps if it's really cold tonight you'll get a hoar frost, which is just a photogenic.
I measured the snow at 7 inchs this morning. It's snowed very lightly all day, not sure if we'll have more tonight. Tomorrow is meant to be fine but cold, so a good opportunity for more snow photos. It is certianly the most snow we've had for about 20 years, but I'm sure snow like this was a regular occurrence when I was a child - perhaps its nostalgia!
Regards,
Pete - Ah bless! I used to be that frightened of thunder and lightening when I was young but I've grown out of it - in fact somewhere along the way my fear turned to excitement and I'm now daft enough to go storm chasing when ever the opportunity arises - all too little in this country - the the last time I did I almost got into very serious trouble with it and had it got as far as the news I've no doubt some Police Chief would have been on telly talking about stupid folk who get into predicaments and put emergency services people at risk ....... I love the bit about the blanket over the head tho - I wonder what she thought that would stop happening??!! Eh dear!
- 03-02-2009 07:29 PM - permalinkPete CollinsHi ellen,
Hope you get some snow shots on Saturday, if the forecast is right. I went out today for a very long walk in the snow, but didn't get any really good shots. Bit disappointed really - some are OK, but nowhere near as good as the ones I got in the frost and mist a couple of weeks ago. The morning was really sunny and bright, but clouded over about midday, and that ended my chances of getting a good shot. Did get probably my best kestrel shot yet, in the middle of a snow shower!
Take care,
Pete - Now that is funny - I've had a fit of the giggles at that one!
