- 13-02-2012 09:17 PM - permalinkDavy CrockettEllen you have just got to request the friendship link! some how then i click yes i think. I would be happy for the friendship link to happen.
- I've looked and compared and I think the 60D is just in the lead just from reading - mainly cos its got a few more bells and whistles - I like the movable screen - that is really useful for stuff like fungi in hard to reach places - can save you having to lie on the floor - tho a lie down is always welcome with me!!
- Yes and my hands still crawl to get all over new camera - all of the time! For such a big thing it sits so neat in my hands!! I will go and have a look on the Canon site and try and compare between the 500/600 and the 60 but the best advice will come from folks who have them and are using them. You won;t regret moving on up and having a bigger lens - well it was always a big background issue with me - lurking at the back of my mind - a 'proper' camera and a BIG lens and plenty bird photography. I've done well really to say I didn't do bird photog digitally till 2005 when we got the 20D's and the 100-400 - but then I do go at it 'bull at a gate' ... I could have done with a windfall earlier in life .... and come to that I could have done with it coming some other way than by my dad dying - he would have loved to see what I have achieved ... but thats the way of things I'm not going to get maudlin. Hope someone gives you some advice soon so you can get on and order one!!!
- MOrnin' Ellen - I'm just back from a few days at the caravan and very enjoyable it was at first - then Cumbria got the 'ice storm' and doing stuff got difficult: water pump froze, so did the loo flush, bird bath also, car got tardy starting thro short runs to the shower block (usual block within walking distance got workmen and electric off!) then there was the sheet ice on the ground as the rain froze on contact .... Anyway the first couple of days were wall to wall blue and gold - fab - really picked me up. Now camera - off the top of my head 60D - wot about the 7D? I haven't looked but I suspect there will be a price difference? I think my mate Davy Crocket now has a 60D why don;t you pm him and ask - he's a grand chap will help anyone so don;t be wary about asking. Why not start a thread and ask for folks opinions as 'one versus t'other' kind - I'm sure those who already own one will answer and tell how they find them?? xx
- Oooh result - more money for you and sunshine for me - sounds like a deal - I'll go with that!!!!! Getting ready for two busy (camera!) days ......... fingers crossed!
- Well if you've read the thread you will see I put a lot of effort in for not a lot of reward tho folk seem to think the goldcrest shot was good (but I've got better shots taken with previous cameras in better light!!) That promotion isn't doing you any favours is it - working you harder and longer and starting even earlier?? I hope the pay matches the effort?!!!
- Unremitting grey and rain since I got this camera .... frustration at an all-time high! I have managed a few shots tho but on ISO 1600 - which is amazing but I reckon this camera would shoot in the dark if I asked it!!! I'm welll impressed but some sunlight would be nice - we've had one lot of rain and grim sweeping in Liverpool Bay and the over Lancs and the Lake District for weeks .....
- Thanks ellen! You wouldn't believe just how dim it was in the hide yesterday! I have to smile at myself cos the times when I was working there and watched folks with sponny new equipment heading determindly for the feeding station used to fill me with almost sarcastic glee I'm ashamed to say - never mind I was the butt of my own jokes yesterday as I trudged round and set up just like a novice - its right ain't it - what goes round returns to haunt you?!!!! We are off to the van in the morning - the bird table needs repairs but I'm hoping to be in Leighton Moss before 11m and that the bittern walks right in front of my waiting lens - now that would be a birthday present and a half!! But if I come back with shots of mallard and coots - ah well those will do!!
- Thaks ellen! I started with flicker but haven't progressed - it takes all my time being on here - I can't do other websites as well. Talking of graphics I bought some new paint brushes and paints in November but they sit un opened on the top of the cupboard here .... I can't seem to find enough time???? Or rather I'm not being disciplined with my time - one half of me thinks I should be pleasing myself more and having less structure but that just leads to lazyness I've found - I've lost the work ethic - although I do get up every morning at 6am still ........ and the other half of my brain is meithering to get on with this and that - and ends up not doing anything much!!
