No worries, dont be afraid to have a go. Although maybe in the summer one of the more active aphid eating species such as syphrus would be a better specimen. Its amazing how many they eat, far more than ladybirds. Its good to encourage this sort of thing as it helps have a good balanced wildlife garden.

It was in my front garden so no shortage of aphids or other "pests" here. I positively encourage them. I may put the critter back outside as I am not sure I can successful rear it myself. Thanks again for your id though, I was really pleased as it is not something I've noticed before.

Not a problem, im just sorry I carnt get it to species, these are very hard unfortunatly, unless you have the rite reference material, which I dont. Its likely its been living on plants on the forest floor and then come down to overwinter.
