We haven't been to Norfolk yet to get the goodies up there like several people have. Several commonish bits and pieces that need a little effort getting such as Bittern, Water Rail, Woodcock etc. Hope to mop up some more odds and sods over the coming weeks. Dipped out on several species too. Still had my best ever January though.
Hi i'm sorry you feel i'm a selfish person because of what i posted on Ruddy ducks, I accept there is still lots to do in the conservation of wildlife, but i have recently just begun to realise how much of my time it has taken over many years, I have enjoyed it though, but i'm handing on to younger folks and taking a back seat in everything now. Sounds like i'm too tired to do anything and as you suggest it may be selfish of me. I have to accept that, and afterall non of us know anything about each others lives and best not to assume anything. Peace and best wishes David.

Re. my last post in the Bat of the Day thread. I am really busy at work and have less time. Birding is fast becoming the thing I live for outside of work. There is always a need for extra study and I want to justify a scope if I decide to buy one next year (or the year after). Even volunteering will hopefully be directed in that direction (perhaps with the Welsh Harp Conservation Group, fingers crossed that goes well). And even on WAB I tend to concentrate on the birding forum now, and will be here a lot less WABBING in future as my priorities change.
