I almost did say summat, but thought I might look a bit of a haybag if it wasn't you! Glad you are inputting to the R.S.P.B, we don't want them messing it all up. I'd gone over the moors hoping to get a photo of a mountain hare, or even a snow bunting (saw one on the edges about ten years ago), but saw little of interest. Not an enjoyable walk really. I had a bad cold, my pack seemed to weigh a ton and my boots were hurting! Moan, moan, moan.

that was me hris..........should have said summat - I nearly invited you, but you dont do fungi................. I was with dave O'hara, RSPB Dovestones reserve boss/warden, giving input to the diversity and some fungi and some ideas so they dont ruin it without our awareness etc etc..............What a shame!
Took us 3hrs to walk round, lots of good stuff.
Cheers

I agree, it can be useful. Ta again. I think I've just managed to post the following on my own page???, but my pal who is the regular watcher up Ogden and Piethorne had a 'ring-tail' hen harrier up Wicken Hall this morning. Right on my doorstep and I was stuck in work. Gutted!.

How do Ken. Just letting you know that there have been up to twenty crossbills by the car-park at Binn Green for the past couple of days.

I've only reported it to my pal who does an annual bird report for Ogden (Piethorne). I won't submit stuff to the GM site because there is no such county! Yes, bog asphodel is a beauty. I go and see it in a little clough near Close Gate packhorse bridge near Marsden. It grows there with sundew. Look forward to the photos!
Regards, Chris

Brill Chris, great spot - are you going to report it , he he!
My sort of day out too, a good pint at the end always helps.
Just spent a couple of hours around yeoman Hey, lots of interesting things about, but I went for the bog asphodel, which I love and its in profusion this year (far bank, boggy slacks) - the flower is unbelievable in close up - i'll put some pics up later I hope, time permitting.
Cheers
