    Thankies for the April confirmation and good luck with the house move - the distance you go in the removal van makes little difference - its that damn packing and unpacking and finding new places for everything and getting preoccupied and turning up at the old house before remembering you;ve moved!!!! Thanks again!

    Hi Ken - hope all well with you and yours? I'm being cheeky now (if you don't ask you don;t get!) but if you are out and about in the hills anytime soon and you spot the Purple Saxifrage flowering can you give me a heads up please? I've promised to take Gracie to Pen-y-ghent so she can see them for herself - however due to our advancing years we don't want to walk all that way if its not yet out!! Thanks for any help you can manage! I'm going to ask Chris as well as you both were very helpful last year in getting me to see it for the first time.

    It was someone off the Manchester site, can't remember who though. It's only recently that I have started posting on that site as I find it seems to have a bit of a bias for the lowland parts of Lancashire. There was one reported at the lake (Hollingworth) recently too. I don't go there much however, far too busy!
    I nipped up to Binn Green as well the other day for bramblings and saw just the one.

    Alright Ken. I was over your end this aft', looking for a water rail on the Royal George Lodge. I didn't see it. However I nearly crashed the car up near the old Buckstones Inn when I chanced upon a corking short-eared owl sat on the moor right by the road.

    Hi Ken, just found your comment on my frost photo, thanks. Crunchy frost is great to walk on isn`t it. The same satisfaction as kicking up Autumn leaves, or is it just me!

    Hi Ken,

    You're welcome. :-) I'm quite well, but looking forward to spring now as I have "butterfly withdrawal". I need a Brimstone and I need it soon!

    I'm slowly getting used to gull ID but I need a trip out to put my skills to the test with the adults, and the immature beggars are still a bit of a mystery. Mind, I was out with the local RSPB experts and they refused to attempt most of the youngsters, and it was I who was suggesting immature Herring Gull at one point. A feather in my cap - possibly one with less of an Oak leaf pattern but still with an oval pattern on the fringes! LOL

    What have you been up to lately?

    How do Ken. I thought it was time I popped in to say hello. I don't get on here as much as I'd like to these days, in fact, I don't get out and about much either! Saying that, the missus has stamped my 'pass-book' today, meaning I'm joining my dad and his pals on a birding trip along the Lancs coast tomorrow (my companions are serious year-listers and will start 2012 with a bang in the morning).
    Anyway, I hope you and the family had a great Christmas (we did!) and very best wishes for the New Year.
