I walk thru/past lots of farms up there. Have you seen the one with all the deer, emu's and wallabies....I kid you not!! Am trying to upload pics tonight from the winter...keep checking chuck!:-)) Righto, msg me with the parking spot. I used to park way down the road past the fish...but some ** knocked my wing mirror off :-(( I often go up to Blackstone Edge, park at the Whitehouse and walk across the moor until I am above the lake and look down on all the hoards whilst enjoying a peaceful brew:-)) Ahhh the joys, just as you say:-)). Next time you are at Cross Stone, try walking the green lane to Whirlaw and on to Bride Stones (ace) or along the golf course to Rive Rocks (a fave spot for a brew) great view of Tod from there.

If you want I'll tip you off for a good free parking spot at H. Lake! But you are right, it gets far too busy there. I look forward to your local photos, especially any around Cross Stones. Since boyhood I have been visiting the relatives up there often and have lots of happy memories of school hols on the farm with my aunt and uncle. Especially wimberry picking on Law Hill. Whay joys.

Ah ha! Well I live just below Cross Stone and walk there all the time, in fact I took some lovely pics up there in the winter. I'll try and post them this week to see if you recognise the spots. I helped dig out a driver stuck in his car......as if he tried driving up there in all that snow! It's well steep!! My granny lived at Meadow Bottom so I know all that area like the back of my hand, every rock, dam, path and secret spots for chilling with a flask of hot choc! I have walked lots around Cragg Vale, loads around Blackstone Edge and all the Res's. I love it, it is truly wild, we're lucky arn't we? I rarely jaunt into the peak district, which is something I should do more. I have 2 Collies so we walk the legs off each other!! I don't visit Hollingworth Lake much as it gets too busy, and I have an aversion to paying for parking (That's the yorks lass in me!) lol

I live at Milnrow, but cover most of the South Pennines between the Peak District and Haworth moors on my jaunts. I do venture into Calderdale a lot though, especially around Cragg Vale, the moors above Hardcastle Crags and Tod' of course. My auntie lives on a farm above Cross Stones, so I go up there regular. I could just tell from your posts that you lived somewhere like Tod' or Hebden Bridge! It's a cracking area.

Yes Chris I do live in Tod! How'd you guess?? Spend lots of time in Dales and Lakes though as I have a small motorhome for getting out into the wilds. Where abouts are you then? Jayne:-)

I have to ask Sparklebug, you seem to know a lot of the same places as I do in the South Pennines. Do you live in Tod'? My dear old aunt lives in Tod'. Cool place it is!
