This little baby appeared on a path near the reserve. It did look quite dead, we tried to save it, I think it might have moved off later, so I hope it survived. Soooo cute.

Most of the critics have read a book and little else, if it wasnt for people prepared to stick up for species under threat they would be wiped out, Newt included!

I had the weirdest feeling my late father was sitting on the bus with me today. And then again when I was in Clinton's buying some birthday cards. I hate Clinton's now. The soppy cards in there can catch me unawares and reduce me to tears.

Thanks for the vote of confidence that volunteering is worthwhile. If you listen to some members on here and then look at the devastation after you've finished cutting down a few trees, you do wonder if you are doing more harm than good. But this is the first year that I've done this is earnest, so I will hopefully see things growing and transforming in spring, which will be a boost I think.

How are you diddlin'? I'm good thanks. Finally recovered from the indulgences of Christmas and looking forward to spring.

Are you referring to the volunteering? It's only Sunday mornings (although it extends to the afternoon usually). So it doesn't take over a whole day, like some. We have Slow Worms and great Crested Newts, and I've seen both. So it's very exciting to be doing something for them.
