Thanks for the kind comments Kayleigh. All those shots were taken from inside my hire car. If I had got out the birds would have flown away. The trick is to slowly creep up close as possible. If they look like they're getting restless then you're close enough. Then just stop the engine and wait. They soon get used to the car being there and as long as you don't lean too far out of the window they don't panic.
I was also lucky that the reservoir where I took the wader shots was only about 30% full. This meant that I could drive into it and get even closer.
I have just seen your shots....WoW...they are stunning I would love that Great White Egret on my wall..
How did you get so close I cant get birds without they are tame and sitting on and tethered to posts as in bop displays..
Everything disappears long before I get there I'm like a baby elephant lol..
yes thank you for letting me know I will pop over and have a look didn't realise there was a limit on uploading there as well lol..
My brother took some videos and shots but I cant copy them for some strange reason, weird camera, I think he got it cheap in Spain lol
I stupidly left my camera at home big mistake..
So nothing to show for it..
Oh well, a glimpse is better than nowt! Better luck next time if you manage to get back.
I just uploaded a few photos of the birds of Cyprus over on WATW if you're interested. The Bee-Eaters were nice to watch but I haven't uploaded one of those yet as I've reached my upload limit for today.
Hi Billy,
It was only a brief glimpse as we scared it from its perch if it hadn't flew off we would never had seen it..
My brother is going back to see if he can see it, he wants me to go with him but I cant as I have to keep leaving the dog behind with my hubby..
I was away around the same time but in Cyprus where I travelled all over the Island trying to find myself a Hoopoe but didn't manage to see one. So I'm green with envy about yours...!
Aww..
They are sweet its nice that it shows your not to close to the nest thanks for showing me them.
That's one thing I would love to see..Maybe next time..hey
